In the middle is a pic of me holding my Tamiya R/C Herbie I had customized in 1997 to look like Herbie. When he was running, this little beauty had Herbie's personality down to a T.
The pictures surrounding the center pic give an idea of the shape he's in today. I'm debating investing some bucks into fixing him but I think it may be best to get a whole new body. Any R/C enthusiasts who may have any helpful suggestions are welcome to comment!
I commissioned an airbrush artist to do a custom job on this. He used some pictures I found on the web as a base for matching paint. Unfortunately I didn't find out exactly how he did it and since he's no longer with us I don't have any way of finding out, sorry.
I would like to see yours when it's completed, though!
sorry for your loss dude. I used white paint, printed decals instead of painting,my concern was the contrast between the white line and body. here is my beetle gallery, think you will like it.. [link]
No big deal, the guy wasn't a close friend or anything. I happened to hear about it when I moved back to Minnesota and stopped by the spot at Crossroads where he did his airbrush.
And yes, I just LOVE the Beetle gallery! Thanks for the link!
